Young Indian southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal has been India’s top batter in Test Cricket in the 2024 calendar year. However, the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy will be the biggest Test of his career. The main reason – the young batter hasn’t batted in Australia before.
Ever since his debut, young Yashasvi Jaiswal has mainly played Test cricket in home soil. He made his debut last year in West Indies and then followed it with 2 Test matches in South Africa. But his majority of the Test matches have been played on home soil when England toured India earlier this year.

This was followed by a 2-Test match series against Bangladesh and the lastest 3-match Test series against New Zealand. So this essentially means, Jaiswal hasn’t played in overseas conditions. With the Border Gavaskar Trophy looming in the horizon, the Test series at Down Under will be his biggest test.
Overall in this season, Yashasvi Jaiswal has amassed 1119 runs in this 2024 calender year. His biggest innings came in the IND vs ENG Test series eatlier this year where he went on to hammer double centuries at Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. But, since this BGT will be held in overseas, Yashasvi will face a daunting task when they face the Aussies.
