Sarfaraz Khan misses Mumbai vs Maharashtra Ranji match

Mumbai is gunning for an outright win against archrivals Maharashtra in round seven at the Brabourne Stadium. However the team suffered a huge setback with Sarfaraz Khan ruled out due to fever.

The 25-year-old has already accumulated 556 runs in the ongoing Ranji season. If Mumbai advances to the knockout stage then he will have the opportunity to add more runs to his kitty and stake a claim for Team India selection.

Following Sarfaraz’s fantastic performance in the past few Ranji seasons there have been calls for his inclusion in Team India’s Test setup.  After being ignored for the first two tests of the India vs Australia series, Sarfaraz in an interview with Times of India had spoken about their disappointment over missing out on selection.

He said, “When the team was announced and my name wasn’t there, I was very sad. Anyone in my place in this world would’ve been sad, because I had expected to be picked, but wasn’t (chosen). Yesterday, I was sad the whole day, when we travelled from Guwahati to Delhi. I was thinking about what and why it happened. I was feeling very lonely. I cried too.”
