According to sources, the BCCI has provided special accommodations at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground for the Indian squad. The stadium, a former international location, holds Central Zone contests. Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha also occasionally play there. Nine tests have taken place there, with the most recent taking place in 2006.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are taking a week off after finishing the ODI series against New Zealand. They are back home, and they will meet up in Mumbai before travelling to Nagpur. On February 2, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will join the team.
Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from the series is a major setback for India, which needs to win 2-0 or 3-1 to advance to the WTC Final in June. The first Test of the series will start on February 09 in Nagpur. The final two Tests will take place over the first two weeks of March.
Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium Pitch Report
Nagpur surface will start spinning a lot from day one if recent history is any indication. In 2015, all 20 South African wickets were taken by spin, while in the most recent game there, between India and Sri Lanka in 2017, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed eight and five wickets, respectively.
The VCA Stadium has one of the largest grounds in the nation, with square borders that are among the largest in the world, but not having the largest capacity in the nation (it can house about 45,000 spectators).
