BCCI to take fitness call on Ravindra Jadeja on February 1

Following the conclusion of the final round of Ranji Trophy, BCCI will take a call on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness. Chetan Sharma-led new selection committee picked Jadeja only for the Test series against Australia. But they put a condition that, he will only be selected if he clears the fitness test. Unconvinced, BCCI asked Jadeja to play in Ranji Trophy and regain match fitness as he has not played for nearly 5 months.

A senior BCCI official told InsideSport “He did pass the initial fitness test. But the NCA still believes he is not yet at 100%. Considering his history of serious injuries, the selectors did not want to rush a return. The Australia series will be far more important than the NewZealand series. That is why he was not considered for the white-ball series,”

Jadeja, is a part of the India squad for the first two Tests of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The IND vs AUS test series gets underway from February 9th in Nagpur. The Test team wil assemble in Mumbai on February 2 before heading to Nagpur for a short 4-5 days camp before the 1st Test.
