IND vs AUS: BCCI not in favor of day-night Tests, feels a lot of premature end of Test matches is the main reason – “It leads to a lot of issues, particularly with the public who would purchase tickets for five days,” said a BCCI official, on the sidelines of the IPL auction in Kochi. Of 20 day-night Test matches played so far, only six Tests have reached the fifth day. Australia’s record in the day-night Test match is also staggering as they have not lost one single Test match.
CA spokesperson said they would have loved to play a day-night Test in India, but the decision was up to BCCI, we don’t have a say on the matter.
IND vs AUS: Why BCCI is not in favor of hosting a day-night Test?
- BCCI feel crowds do not get their money’s worth as the Test matches end in just three or four days.
- The Ahmedabad Pink ball Test match against England was the shortest of the 21st century it only lasted two days.
- The board feels they are also answerable to stakeholders. None of the pink-ball Test matches played in India starched beyond four days.
- Australia’s record in pink-ball Test is also something BCCI would be vary of. They have played nine day-night Test matches and have an unbeaten record so far.
- They have also beaten India in the day-night Test in Adelaide in the 2020-21 series.
