IND vs AUS Test: Sarfaraz Khan India Selection – The wait for Sarfaraz Khan to get India nod will be a little longer despite notching up Don Bradman-like First Class average. BCCI’s newly appointed selector Sridharan Sharath has confirmed that Sarfaraz is being closely monitored. But despite injuries to Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, the wait for Sarfaraz Khan will be prolonged as he misses out on the squad for the first two games of India vs Australia Test series. “He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” National selector Sridharan Sharath told Sportstar.

IND vs AUS Test: Sarfaraz Khan’s performance in domestic matches
Just like the previous two seasons, Sarfaraz Khan continued to pile runs in the ongoing season as well. The middle-order batsman has hit three centuries for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji season so far. The youngster is however, not a part of Mumbai’s XI as they take on Maharashtra in the final match of Group B. Talking about Sarfaraz’s performance, he scored 125 runs in Mumbai’s last match against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
He scored the first century of the season against Hyderabad when he played an unbeaten knock of 126 runs. Against Tamil Nadu, Sarfaraz played a crucial knock of 162 runs which bailed Mumbai out of trouble. In that match, Mumbai was struggling at 161/6 when Sarfaraz stitched a 167-run partnership with Tanush Kotian (71). Mumbai eventually ended their innings on 481 as the match ended in a draw.

However, despite the snub in the first two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it is not the end of the road for the 25-year-old. Given that the youngster continues to amass huge runs in domestic cricket, he will focus on continuing this good form. Sarfaraz is already on the radar of the BCCI’s selection committee.
The BCCI has previously announced the squad for the first two Test matches against Australia. But quite a few players are looking to contest for a spot in the 3rd and the 4th matches in the series. Along with ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah, young batter Sarfaraz will be eyeing for a spot in the India team.
