India’s upcoming speedster Mayank Yadav’s chance of getting a Test debut has suffered a setback. The young pace sensation was slated to be a traveling reserve for Team India in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. But that plan now has been postponed. In the meantime, fellow pace partner Harshit Rana has been selected.
Mayank Yadav recently made his India Cricket Team debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh. But now the young gun has been sidelined and won’t be a part of the squad for the T20I series against South Africa. The reason? Mayank Yadav is injured and thus unavailable for selection.
The young bowler has been plagued with injuries. His IPL 2024 stint was cut short with an abdominal injury. While recovering he suffered another injury while bowling at the NCA in Bengaluru. And now with his fresh injury, Mayank won’t be a part of the IND vs SA or IND vs AUS Test series.
Previously, it was revealed that Mayank would be fast-tracked into the red ball format for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. And now he along with Shivam Dube is unavailable with injuries.
Initial reports claimed that Mayank would be among the traveling reserves in Australia. Later on, it was revealed that should Mohammed Shami be unavailable, then the young LSG pacer would take his spot. But now both Shami and Mayank Yadav are unable to select. On the other hand, the BCCI hasn’t rushed for Shami and has given him adequate time to recover.
