Although it has already been established that Green will be unable to bowl in Nagpur, Australian skipper Pat Cummins said on Thursday that it is still unknown whether he will be able to participate in any capacity.
“I know he won’t be bowling (in the first Test),” Cummins was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
“The next week’s obviously really important. He hasn’t been able to do a lot yet.”
“I think the nature of that particular injury is once it comes good, it comes good really quickly. Hopefully we’re at that stage where the next week, it really does improve a lot.”

Given the balance the all-rounder adds to the XI, whether Green plays and doesn’t bowl or doesn’t play at all, it’s a major blow for the Australians.
When Green is totally fit, the visitors can select two fast bowlers, and two specialist spinners and the brilliant 23-year-old can act as a third seam option.
Selectors have less flexibility without him bowling, which he hasn’t done at peak fitness since Boxing Day.
The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) will host the opening Test of the four-match Test series between India and Australia from February 9 to 13.
