As mentioned above, team India has won 31 out of 39 Test series they have played at home since 2000. As compared to India, Australia have played 41 series and won 32 bilateral series at home. Australia are followed by SouthAfrica. The Proteas have played 42 Test series since 2000 and won 30 series. England, SriLanka and NewZealand are next in line.
Meanwhile, team India also achieved another unique record after the Ahmedabad Test. Since 2013, India has won 16 consecutive Test series at home. No other team in the world has won more than 10 consecutive Test series at home. India is already the number-one team in that regard. After India, Australia has won 10 consecutive Test series twice at home. West Indies, on the other hand, have won 8 consecutive Test series at home.
Meanwhile, India qualified for the prestigious World Test Championship (WTC) final on Monday after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in a thrilling last-ball finish in Christchurch. India will play Australia in the WTC final at The Oval from June 7.
This is India’s second successive entry into the WTC final, with the previous one coming in the inaugural cycle in 2021, where they lost to New Zealand. With the Dimuth Karunaratne-led side’s only shot at the WTC final berth hinging on a 2-0 victory against the Kiwis in the away series, the loss for the Islanders ended their hopes of securing a spot.
