IND vs AUS: With just a day remaining ahead of the WTC Finals, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has picked his Playing XI against Australia. While the other pundits have put Australia ahead of India, Sunil Gavaskar has however pointed out that India are favorites to win the WTC Finals. He also claimed that India should opt for spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja.

“I will give the edge to India. I don’t believe that the conditions favour Australia. Apart from Melbourne where else do you get four seasons in a day? The other grounds have similar hot conditions like India,” said Sunil Gavaskar.
“In a big match you need to have miles under your feet, be it batting or bowling. Most of the Indian players have done that. The only player who didn’t play IPL, Cheteshwar Pujara was playing County cricket and scoring centuries for fun. The Indian batters are on top and the bowlers are in excellent rhythm,” added Gavaskar.
Gavaskar has pointed out that the Indian side should approach the game with two spinners. The former India opener made it clear that that the top 2 ranked spinners shouldn’t be left out of the squad, just like the top batters of the team are never dropped. He opined that India should learn from their previous mistake and go with two spinners when the pitch can become favorable in the latter days.

Gavaskar pointed out that the four Indian bowlers should be Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. “All out four bowlers are experienced. They have been playing for years and and can scalp the 20 Australian wickets”
Gavaskar also claimed that depending on the conditions the team management will have to take a call on the third pacer, whether it will be Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav or Jaydev Unadkat. Gavaskar claimed that since KS Bharat hasn;’t proven much with the bat, a bowling all rounder like Shardul would be the best fit. And if Shadul is not playing then a left handed pacer, i.e Unadkat should get a chance in the playing XI.
