IND vs AUS: Following India’s shameful loss to Australia in the WTC Finals, Rohit Sharma has been slammed by former cricketers and pundits. The India skipper suggested that 3 match finals should be done to decide on the winner in place of just 1 game. To this, Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh has go on to slam the India team captain.

Following the match India skipper Rohit Sharma made a wild claim saying the WTC should be a 3-match series. “I would like to play the 3-Test match series for the WTC Final. We worked hard and we fought, but we played just 1 game. I think a 3-match series would be ideal in the next WTC cycle,” said Rohit Sharma.

Now Rohit’s statements were not taken easily by Sunil Gavaskar as he responded harshly.

“No. This has been decided for a long time, you know even before you enter that first match of the cycle that the final is going to be just one-off. So, you have to be prepared mentally,” Gavaskar said on India Today.

“Just like you prepare for the IPL, you don’t say best of three. Everybody can have a bad day, or a couple of days, but before the first ball of the cycle you know what it is. So, you can’t be asking for a best of three. Tomorrow, you may say best of five,” he further added.

Harbhajan too retorted on the matter as he asked a rhetoric question would the same rules be applied in the ODI World Cups

“I want to ask what will happen in 50-over World Cups. Do you want 3 finals there as well? If it was New Zealand vs England, would you say the same thing? No, you wouldn’t. You’ll say no, one final is enough. So, 50-over World Cup – 1 final, Test Championship – 1 final. Biggest events of tennis and football World Cup have 1 final,” Harbhajan told Sports Today.
