IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma most likely to miss Perth Test due to birth of second child, Jasprit Bumrah could lead

Even though Rohit Sharma was poor in the IND vs NZ Test, India would still miss his services in the IND vs AUS first match, on Nov 22.

Team India have been dealt with a huge blow, as the visiting New Zealand side completed a whitewash 0-3, perhaps against the best Test team of their generation. Tom Latham & Co. scripted history when no one expected them to, after beating Rohit Sharma’s men by 25 runs in Mumbai. But unfortunately for India, the problems do not end here.

Rohit Sharma in Perth Test?

While there are problems in batting department, don’t expect India to come up with an inspiring performance in the IND vs AUS Tests as well, starting on November 22 in Perth. That is because skipper Rohit might not be available for the first Test due to unknown reasons. Even though it is still not confirmed, but the 37-year-old himself hinted at the possibility.

“I am not sure at this point about taking part in the Perth Test,” a dejected Rohit told after the mighty loss. In fact, if various reports are to be believed, his wife Ritika Sajdeh is expecting the birth of their second child, around that time. Call it slip of tongue, but Abhinav Mukund mentioned this on AIR, during the post-match broadcast on Jio.

This done, then Jasprit Bumrah will be entrusted with the responsibility of leading a depleted Team India, who are on a losing streak at the moment. Meanwhile, Bumrah has led India in only one Test so far, back in 2022, in England, which India lost comfortably.

In Rohit’s absence, India will also have to tinker with their batting order, where maybe Shubman Gill will be asked to open the innings, while someone like a KL Rahul will have to be drafted in the middle order. The problems do not end there, as Mohammed Shami is most likely, going to miss out from the entire IND vs AUS series, due to failure of recovery from surgery.
