IND vs AUS: Rahul Dravid Shubman Gill – Team India head coach Rahul Dravid is fine-tuning Shubman Gill’s fielding by giving him valuable catching lessons. India is gearing up to play Australia in the first ODI today, and Dravid was seen helping Gill perfect his catching technique in an intense training session in Mumbai. The India opener pouched everything that came his way and is set to replace Virat Kohli in the slip position. BCCI shared a video on the official Twitter account and captioned the video saying ‘A perfect catch-up ft.’ Follow IND vs AUS Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

For the unversed, team India’s fielding was not up to the standards in the Test series against Australia as Virat Kohli, and Srikar Bharat dropped quite a few easy catches. Dravid does not want any fielding errors in the ODI series and is making sure Gill takes every opportunity that comes his way with both hands. Gill has been in phenomenal form with the bat in the last three months. The India opener is coming off a superb 100 in the last Test against Australia.
In the last ODI series against New Zealand, Gill bagged the player of the series award by scoring over 300 runs in three ODIs. The opening batter also slammed a terrific double hundred in Hyderabad. Gill will be hoping to continue his great form in ODIs against Australia.
WTC Final: Sourav Ganguly backs Shubman Gill to open in WTC against Australia, says he is a permanent member of the Indian team
Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has backed Shubman Gill for the WTC Final ahead of KL Rahul. While KL Rahul has been India’s go-to opener in overseas conditions, Shubman’s tremendous form in the last six months in all three formats is what should keep Rahul away. Ganguly said not just momentarily, Gill is now India’s permanent opener across all three formats.
“Shubman has been phenomenal in the last 6-7 months. What else does he need to do? He is now a permanent member of the team,” Sourav Ganguly told RevSportz in Kolkata during Delhi Capitals’ pre-IPL 2023 camp.
