IND vs AUS LIVE – Rahul Dravid Groundstaff: It’s not usual for players or captains or even coaches to have a chat with the groundsmen. Barring reports on the pitch, they never really speak to the groundsmen. However, India head coach and former captain Rahul Dravid took his time out after the 2nd T20 to greet Nagpur groundstaff. It was them who helped prevent an embarrassment and a washout of the 2nd T20. Follow India vs Australia LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Although it rained the day before, Nagpur T20 was heading for an embarrassing washout despite no rain the entire day. The reason was that the outfield and the run-up area was still wet. However, they reached the ground by 1 PM and started preparing the venue. Their relentless work for 7 hours helped get the ground ready enough for an 8-overs-a-side match.

The groundstaff worked relentlessly for over 4 hours spraying sawdust to soak the wet area. The umpires were afraid that the soggy run-up area could lead to injury before T20 World Cup. But the hard work of the groundsmen helped have a thrilling encounter. It also helped India level the series 1-1. Rohit Sharma also thanked the groundsmen for their tireless work.
“They did a phenomenal job to have a game. Groundsmen have been here since 1.30 pm to get the outfield ready. So, the credit to the whole management It’s not easy. The conditions were not easy. So, great effort from them to at least get some sort of game going for the fans who turned out in great numbers. We love coming here and play so, a lot of credit to the groundsmen,” Rohit Sharma said after the match.
