IND vs AUS: Prasidh Krishna to play Sydney Test, making a comeback after year-long hiatus

Prasidh Krishna is set to make his Test comeback after a year, replacing Akash Deep in the Sydney Test as India reshuffles its lineup.

India’s young pacer Prasidh Krishna is likely to be included in the final Test of the IND vs AUS Series in Sydney cricket ground. According to reports, he will be replacing Akash Deep, who has been ruled out of the series with a back injury. This is a big chance for Prasidh to cement his place for the future in India’s Test Cricket. Along with that, according to the same reports, India has made several changes in their batting lineup for the match. With Caption Rohit Sharma dropping himself, Shubman Gill will bat at number 3. KL Rahul will return to his usual position as an opener, pairing with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top.

Prasidh Krishna to play after a year

Prasidh Krishna is chosen for the Test over Harshit Rana. The 23-year-old pacer from Delhi, Rana, has played the initial two matches for India, first in Perth and then the day-night encounter at Adelaide. Meanwhile, Prasidh will be making his comeback in the playing XI after a year; the last time he played a Test match was last year in Capetown against South Africa on January 3, 2024. It will be exactly after a year that he’ll be making his comeback.

Leadership shift to Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah will take over the captaincy duties in this Test match. He previously led India to a significant victory in the Perth Test. With Rohit stepping aside due to his struggles, Bumrah’s leadership is crucial as India aims for a comeback in the series. Australia currently leads the five-match Test series 2-1, making this Sydney Test a do-or-die game for India. Winning at the Sydney Cricket Ground is vital to keep their chances alive for reaching the World Test Championship final.

Probable Playing XI

India’s probable team for the 5th Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna.
