IND vs AUS: Pat Cummins – Australia captain Pat Cummins will be eyeing a big record during the upcoming four Tests against India. The right-arm pacer, who won the player of the series award in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2020, will now be aiming to replicate to put same performance in this year’s BGT and aim to go equal with Sachin Tendulkar. Only the former India cricketer has won consecutive player of the series award in 1998 and 1999. Follow IND vs AUS Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

For the record, Tendulkar has won the player of the series award in BGT for three times. No player has won the POS award for more than one time. Since 2001, there have been always different bagging the award except for the year 2010 when Tendulkar won for the record third time.

IND vs AUS: Pat Cummins chasing Tendulkar’s record, Aussie skipper also emulating Ricky Ponting’s big record

Cummins was the star for Australia during the last edition of BGT picking up 21 wickets in four Tests. Even though Australia lost the series 2-1, the pacer put on a superb exhibition of pace, swing, & seam bowling. This year’s BGT will be played in India, and the conditions might not favor pace bowlers, but with the form that the Australia skipper is, the India batter should be wary of the threat he possesses in sub-continent conditions also.

Apart from chasing Tendulkar’s big record, Cummins will also look to emulate Ricky Ponting’s record. The former Australia skipper is the only captain to win BGT Trophy in India in 2004. So far, Cummins has not lost a Test series as captain ever since taking over Tim Paine in 2021. The pacer also won a Test series in Pakistan in 2022 and drew Test series in Sri Lanka. The India-Australia Test series will start on February 9, and Cummins will be keen to not drop his guard.
