Speaking about the dismissal, Labuschagne was looking to cut it against the spin but only managed to get a thick outside edge. Jadeja at short third man dives full length to his right, goes at it two hands and grabs a stunning catch.
Apart from his antics in the field, Jadeja was simply excellent with the ball in hand. The left-arm spinner bowled a total of nine overs and gave away just 46 runs. He also scalped two big wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell. To note, this was Jadeja’s first ODI game since July 2022 when he played against England.
Meanwhile, Indian pacers were also excellent with the ball as Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami shared six wickets between them. Both were simply excellent with the new ball and cleaned up the tail in the later part of the innings.
“There is a lot of hard work involved, you have to work on your fitness. You have to work hard in the nets. When you have the rhythm and the bounce and seam position is good, you get the results. There’s always good bounce on the Mumbai wickets,” said Shami during the mid-innings break.
“I bowled in the good areas and got the rewards. I planned with Hardik to keep one slip in place. The ball was moving a bit and the idea was to keep bowling in the tight off stump channel. If everyone contributes a bit, then it will be really good for the confidence of the players,” he added.
