If the first 40 minutes of the second India vs Australia Adelaide Test are anything to go by, we are in for a treat. The spectacle started to unfold right from the first ball when Mitchell Starc took his ‘sledge’ revenge on Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, the drama amplified in the eighth over when Pat Cummins brought in his Josh Hazlewood replacement, Scott Boland. He is a cult figure in Australia and forced everyone to stand on their feet right on the first ball when he got KL Rahul out.
KL Rahul saved twice in 5 balls
KL Rahul began his innings in a cautious fashion, making no run off his first 20 balls. However, he got a huge scare when Scott Boland came to bowl. Boland lured Rahul to nudge an outside off-stump delivery, and the Indian opener started to walk back to the pavilion too. However, the third umpire came in to save Rahul, as he quickly told the on-field umpire that Boland overstepped. Incredibly, the snicko metre on the TV showed that there was no edge detected, meaning KL Rahul was walking back despite knowing he nicked it or not.
Regardless, a few balls later, Boland troubled Rahul once again. This time, he did edge the ball but Usman Khawaja, standing at second slip, spilled the catch. The ball was going away from Khawaja, who did got a hand to it but Rahul got another reprieve. It is up now to the 32-year-old how he cashes in to these opportunities.
