IND vs AUS LIVE – Virat Kohli as 6th Bowler? India captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday rolled his arms against Aussies in the seventh over against Australia. He gave away just 4 runs in the very first over and then came to bowl the second over during the 13th over and gave just 8 runs. It could be the trailer of what’s ahead in the T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old could play the role of sixth bowling option as Hardik Pandya is set to play purely as a batsman throughout the showpiece event. IND vs AUS Live: Rohit Sharma rues absence of 6th bowling option– The development comes minutes after Rohit Sharma rued the absence of the 6th bowling option for India in the T20 World Cup.
“Hardik is coming along pretty well, but it’ll be a while before he will start to bowl. He hasn’t started bowling, but he should be ready by the start of the tournament. We have quality in the main bowlers, but you need an option for a sixth bowler,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
Earlier, Kapil Dev had given examples of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar who helped India as the 6th bowling option during their playing days.
“When Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar were playing, they could have bowled 2 out of 4 overs, the captain had an extra person to consider if one of the bowlers got hit and it made his job easier. If Hardik can bowl even 2 overs, it gives India that much more balance,” he had told Sportskeeda.
