The India vs Australia 1st Test will get underway from Thursday, February 9th in Nagpur. Before the opening Test in Nagpur, the Iceland cricket team’s social media handle tweeted, “Many of us just watched a film called Pathaan at the Bíó Paradís cinema in Reykjavík. India should pick the main character. He could survive at least 100 DRS appeals and handle the spinning wickets of Ahmedabad, plus all the toxic ammunition fired by the pesky Aussies”.

The tweet from Iceland cricket comes post-Australia deciding against playing a practice match before the IND vs AUS 1st Test. Ahead of the Nagpur Test former Australia skipper Steve Smith had shared his opinion regarding playing against practice game.

He had said, “The last time we went I’m pretty sure we got served up a green-top to practice on and it was sort of irrelevant. We’re better off having our own nets and getting spinners in and bowling as much as they can. We’ll wait and see when we hit the ground. I think we’ve made the right decision to not play a tour match”.

Replying to Smith’s comment Ashwin  took a slight dig on his YouTube channel, stating that the Australians love playing mind games. He said “We might have given them a green track, but nobody plans all these things. However, Australia are known for its mind games and sledges before a series. They love doing that. It’s their style of cricket.”

The opening test will be played at Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur and the visitors are leaving no stone unturned in terms of preparations. This the battle between the top two teams in Test format. India will have to win the series to qualify for the World Test Championship final.

Speaking of teams, India will not have the service of pacer Jasprit Bumrah and wicketkeeper  Rishabh Pant, but despite that the team has firepower in batting and bowling. The home side  will yet again rely on spinners to do their job.
