IND vs AUS LIVE: IND vs AUS Test Series: Former Australia assistant coach Sridharan Sriram revealed how Australia prepared for the 2017 Test series in India and what we can expect in the upcoming series. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin can be a major threat for Australia, who haven’t won a Test Series in India since 2004. Expecting spin to play a significant role in the four-match Test series, the visitors have opted for tailor-made pitches and have availed the services of Pithiya to get accustomed to the action of Ashwin. IND vs AUS LIVE: Doctored Pitches, Ashwin’s DOUBLE, former Australian ASST coach REVEALS ‘Australia’s MASTERPLAN to defeat India’: CHECK OUT
Sridharan Sriram, a former India player, and former Australia assistant coach said, “Our preparation for the 2017 series in India, came down to how we managed those seconds.”
He added, “In Australia, the batsmen are used to playing pace bowling and you get around 20-25 seconds between each delivery. But here in India, it’s 10-15 seconds. A raging turner, spinners on top, fielders on top, the crowd yelling – and a batsman has to somehow shut out all the external noise and re-focus within those precious seconds.”

“This is where most visiting batsmen make lots of mistakes because they are not ready in that period. They are used to taking a bit more time before each delivery. Even the elite players are used to that. Even for Steve Smith, switching on every 10 seconds is something not natural. Ravindra Jadeja hardly has a run-up; neither does R Ashwin. They are ready to bowl the next ball in 8 seconds,” said Sriram.

As spin will play a significant role in the four-match Test series, Kangaroos are practicing on doctored pitches. And to tackle Ashwin, they have availed the services of Pithiya to get used to the action of right-arm off-spinner.
However, no spinner in the world can perfectly mimic the challenge Ashwin will pose in the series. Facing Pithiya over the coming days will at least help the Australians come to terms with the visual cues of the world’s top-ranked Test spin bowler.
