After a break of six years, Virat Kohli bowled for India in the Aisa Cup game against Hong Kong. He bowled just a solitary over then, but his practice session in the nets under the watchful eyes of Dravid suggests that India are looking at the 33-year-old as an option with the ball. Kohli did trouble Axar Patel in the nets and it sparked celebrations as per reports.

With Ravindra Jadeja ruled out and Dinesh Karthik proving to be indispensable, India’s options with the ball are drying up with Hardik Pandya being the fifth bowling option. Currently, among the batsmen, only Deepak Hooda can chip in with a couple of overs and Kohli’s desire to do so can only ease Rohit Sharma’s concerns.
Should the former Indian captain be able to bowl regularly, India could easily field both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in the side, while having the insurance of an extra bowler should one of the bowlers not complete their quota of overs.
