IND vs AUS: Jasprit Bumrah most likely to lead India in SCG Test, Rohit Sharma could be axed

IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma, the Indian team's skipper has not only been poor with the bat, but also tactically, as India trail 1-2 in the series.

Well, the signs are not looking good for Team India skipper Rohit Sharma. On Thursday, the eve of the fifth IND vs AUS Test at the SCG, the team management gave enough signals, that Jasprit Bumrah could be named the skipper for Sydney, and Rohit could be axed, due to poor form.

Rohit Sharma to be Dropped from IND vs AUS 5th Test?

Firstly, Gautam Gambhir maintained his silence, if Rohit Sharma would play in the new year’s Test, and ended up saying, “We will take playing XI call after looking at the pitch tomorrow,” and then, Bumrah was seen having long chats with Ajit Agarkar and Gambhir. So much so, that the duo kept having a discussion much into the practice session.

As soon as the Indian team made their way to the ground, Bumrah was spotted with different members of the management, giving a look, that he could be handed the reigns of the team. Soon after that, much into the practice session, the Gambhir-Bumrah duo were again seen chatting outside the dressing room, as per various journalists.

Jasprit Bumrah to Lead?

Lastly, in the practice session, the slip cordon did a catching drill without Rohit. A usual at the first slip, Virat Kohli took his spot, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Rishabh Pant the keeper. For the record, Rohit Sharma has been poor form, where he has just scored 31 runs in the series, at an average of 6.

More importantly, his captaincy has been shoddy, where his decisions on the mark have sparked much debate. This includes defensive tactics against Aussie batsmen, not using spinners enough in the series, bad field-placements, and even selection of the team. If rumours are to be believed, either he will sacked from the Test team, or will announce his retirement from the format.
