“I’ve been told..” KL Rahul refuses to reveal batting position for 2nd BGT Test, gives hilarious answer

KL Rahul has made 2654 of his 3084 as an opener. This tally means he has scored over 86 percent of his Test runs as an opener.

What would be Team India’s batting order in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test? This has been a burning question among all cricket enthusiasts. The equation would’ve been simple had Rohit Sharma walked out to bat as an opener alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the practice game against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canbbera. However, the Indian skipper threw a googly as he pushed himself to the middle order and didn’t disturb the successful opening duo of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

KL Rahul shares hilarious reply on where he would bat in 2nd BGT Test

KL Rahul attended a press conference on Wednesday (December 4) morning. Obviously, he was asked about his batting position for the upcoming second Test at Adelaide Oval. However, the Karnataka-born batter opted not to reveal anything but brought up a hilarious reply to woo the question. While answering the query, KL Rahul said:

“I’ve been told, but I’ve also been told not to share it today. You have to wait for Day 1, or it may be when the captain (Rohit Sharma) comes here tomorrow.” It prompted an instant reaction from the media personnel, and the Indian batter himself had a giggle.

KL Rahul & Yashasvi Jaiswal to open…again?

We could see KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal open in Adelaide too.

India were without Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the Optus Stadium. Instead, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings for India, with fans getting an all-new top-order. Now Rohit, who was expected to bat at the top of the order, opted not to. Instead, we saw Rahul-Jaiswal continue their rich vein of form in Canberra. The Indian captain didn’t tinker with the successful duo of Jaiswal and Rahul. The duo hit an opening stand of 201 runs in the third innings in the opening BGT clash, the highest-ever stand by an Indian opening duo in Australia.

It must be noted that the last time Rohit Sharma batted as a non-opener was way back in 2018. It was also during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). In that game, the Hitman made 5 and 63*, helping India clinch the match under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy.
