Insidesport

The late push by Cameron Green to participate in the opening Test match against India has made “great progress,” as per Fox Sports. The coaching staff has been taken aback by his quick recuperation.

“We’ve got a fair bit to work through him before the first Test match. We haven’t put a clear line through him or put him on the team-sheet yet,” ,Coach Andrew McDonald has told cricket.com.au.

“I wouldn’t say he was in discomfort when he was bowling. One of the deliveries jarred the bottom of the bat and that can create discomfort for anyone.

“There’s a bit of awareness around that finger. He’s made some significant steps forward in the last couple of days, probably to my surprise.

“There’s still an outside chance that, everything going well, he might be on the team sheet,” the coach concluded.

Cameron Green Injury

Given their proficiency against spin bowling, Matthew Renshaw and Peter Handscomb would probably face off for the No. 6 spot if Green is unable to participate in Nagpur.

Insidesport

Australia would be without a fifth option in Green’s absence, which would have a negative impact on bowling.

Travis Head might pick up the slack if the circumstances favor spin. While Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are also more than capable of providing some temporary tweakers.
