Australia have lost the chance to reclaim Border Gavaskar Trophy after losing the first two Tests in a combined six days. While the tour has been marred by batting failures, poor fielding in slips and close-ins has also caught the attention. To overcome that, Australia have turned to whatever they get to simulate conditions as per cricket.com.au.

They used pitch rollers, steel boards meant for fencing and Australian footballs to simulate the catching practice. In Indore, they will come up against a combination of pace and spin challenges.
While the pitch will help pacers initially with the red soil base, as the match progresses, spinners will dominate proceedings. That means Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green will be able to create plenty of catching chances at the slips with the new ball considering the bounce on the pitch.
As the roughs open up, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann will take advantage. Using the bounce of the pitch, they can create close-in chances.
Meanwhile, Australia are looking to retain the three-spinner strategy despite Indore heavily favouring pace early on. Lyon, Murphy and Kuhnemann will continue as the three spinners. Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc will come back from injuries to replace Matt Renshaw and Patt Cummins in the Playing XI.
Steve Smith will lead Australia as Pat Cummins is back home, attending to his ailing mother. He is likely to come back for the final Test in Ahmedabad. In the meantime, David Warner is also back home and Travis Head is likely to open. Australia are pondering adding a third seamer in Scott Boland or Lance Morris. With the squad depleted and not many batters left, they can turn to a quick to dismantle Team India.
Australia Squad for 3rd Test: Steve Smith (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, Matt Kuhnemann.
