IND vs AUS 1st Test: India’s stellar comeback recapped
India got off to a nightmare start after deciding to bat first in Perth. A top-order collapse saw just Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy put up a fight while the rest of the batters fell prey to the Aussie pacers. India were bundled out for just 150 runs. However, India responded in an emphatic fashion. Led by Jasprit Bumrah, the visitors bowled out Australia for just 104 runs.
Carrying on the momentum from their 1st innings counter attack, India’s openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal oozed confidence as they toyed around with the bowlers while displaying some brilliant Test cricket batting. The southpaw went on to slam a hundred and finished his innings at 161 runs. Virat Kohli ended his century drought as he slammed his 7th hundred in Australia. India declared at 487/6, posting a mammoth target for the visitors.
India handed a triple blow towards the end of Day 3, denting Australia’s confidence. In the following day Bumrah, Reddy and Sundar contined to take wickets, reducing Australia down to 8 wickets at Tea.
