Day 2 Summary: From 77/1, India had a steady start with Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin adding another 41 runs. But with debutant Todd Murphy wrecked India’s middle-order. Ashwin (23), Cheteshwar Pujara (7), Virat Kohli (12) and KS Bharat (8) all departed one after the other. Suryakumar Yadav (8) also had a poor debut as Lyon dismissed him with a terrific delivery.
But Jadeja and Rohit Sharma steadied the ship with a brilliant 61-run stand. After Rohit fell to Pat Cummins, Jadeja continued with Axar Patel, adding an unbeaten 81-run stand for the 8th wicket.
Earlier on Day 1, Australia were bowled out for 177 with Ravindra Jadeja bagging a fifer. Ashwin was the other hero with the ball, scalping three wickets. Marnus Labuschagne provided some resistance with Steve Smith adding 82-run stand for the third wicket. Peter Handscomb and Alex Carey too added 53 runs for the 6th wicket. But only four Aussie batters crossed double-digits as the famed batting line-up collapsed.
