David Warner had a short time at the crease but it could mean the end of his stint in India. The left-hander largely struggled and was hit on the helmet a few times. The veteran additionally took a few blows to the body which took a toll on him. He needed medical attention for one of the hits on his elbow, before a Siraj bouncer knocked him right on the helmet.

Australia were eventually bowled our 263, with India batting 9 overs at the end of Day’s play. Warner however did not take the field with Matt Renshaw coming up as a substitute. As per Fox Cricket, a Cricket Australia spokesperson said that the 36-year-old was ‘unwell’ after the hit on the helmet.

Usman Khawaja later confirmed Warner’s condition in the press conference. Australia’s top scorer revealed that Warner was feeling weary and that a call on him will be taken by the medical staff on Day 2. Fox Sports understands that Matt Renshaw will open the batting should Warner be subbed out. Renshaw played the 1st Test in Nagpur, scoring 2 and 0 in Australia’s innings defeat.

“The medical staff will have to assess tomorrow, he is a little bit weary at the moment. He got a knock to the arm and then the head, I think the head made him a little bit weary at the moment and couldn’t come out to field. The staff will have to figure out what happens from here,” said Usman Khawaja in his press conference.
