India cricket team batter KL Rahul is confident as he heads into his maiden Pink Ball match in IND vs AUS 2nd Test. The Karnataka star admitted that playing with the pink ball was slightly tougher than playing the white or red ball. After handing Australia a 295-run thrashing in Perth, India head into the next game in Adelaide which will begin from Friday.
KL Rahul opens up on Pink Ball challenges
Speaking to reporters in a press conference on Wednesday, KL Rahul did not shy away from admitting that the Pink Ball Test could be challenging as it was his first game with the ball. He explained that he sought help from other teammates who have had the experience of playing a day-night game in order to understand the nuances and the threats. Rahul also spoke about how the Pink Ball challenge was different from the red-ball, revealing that the batters did struggle to read the deliveries in the nets in Adelaide.
“These few days have been only about understanding how the ball reacts and if it going to be easy or hard to play against the Pink Ball. It was just a different to pick off the Pink Ball off the hand. It wasn’t as easy as facing up against white or red ball. So that is something he have to get used to and get over,” KL Rahul said.

KL Rahul returned to familiar territory in the 1st Test as he acted as the stand-in opener in the absence of Rohit Sharma. The batter aced his role to perfection, anchoring the innings while Yashasvi Jaiswal went berserk on the other end. However, it remains to be seen if KL Rahul will continue in the top-order, given that Rohit Sharma will return. Some critics have also pointed out that India should stick with the same batting order as the Perth Test and allow Rohit Sharma to bat in the middle-order and not open.
When asked about his position in the batting order, KL Rahul said that he has been informed of his role but is barred from sharing it publicly. He added that skipper Rohit Sharma would perhaps make the announcement in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
