However, a BCCI source told PTI that it was an “ointment for pain relief for the sore finger”. Throughout the video, it can be seen that Jadeja is not touching the ball and only applying ointment on a sore finger.

The build up to the contest saw questions being raised over the pitch at Vidarbha Cricket Association. The Australian media tried to make a mountain out of mole by stretching small issues. The BCCI and Indian curators of pitch have been accused of doctoring the surface ahead of the first Test match.

Team India skipper Rohit defending the claims said that it is a good sign that players are performing well and all options are open as different pitches need different skill sets.

Highlights of Ravindra Jadeja’s wickets

The southpaw broke the backbone of the Australian batting lineup by running through the middle order. Jadeja dismissed Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw followed by Wickets of Steve Smith, Todd Murphy, and Peter Handscomb. Labuschagne was Jadeja’s first wicket of the match.

The left-arm spinner deceived him in flight and was stumped. Renshaw was dismissed for a duck off the first ball trapped in front of the wicket. Steve Smith was the next to be dismissed as Jadeja was able to go right through Smith’s defense. The former Australia captain’s wicket brought the Nagpur crowd to its feet. Peter Handscomb and debutant Todd Murphy were also adjudged LBW.
