IND vs AUS 5th Test LIVE, Day 1: Early in the third session, Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy got out, leaving India reeling at 125/6. Scott Boland picked up both the wickets. Wickets kept tumbling as India were reduced to 149/8. Eventually the innings folded at 185.
Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have done well to fight back Australia and guide India to 107/4 at Tea. Virat Kohli was the only batter to be dismissed in the second session as his troubles with the outside-off stump deliveries costed him his wicket for the 7th time in this series.
India started the first session poorly as KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were removed early on in the day. Then Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill strung a partnership, but then Gill was out on the last ball before lunch, leaving India at 57/3 at lunch.
As expected, Rohit Sharma the Indian skipper was excluded from the playing XI, with Jasprit Bumrah as the skipper for the Sydney Test. Now, what holds in future is a mystery. Anyways, India decided to bat first. Shubman Gill and Prasidh Krishna make it to the XI.
With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and World Test Championship (WTC) final on the line, India will enter the must-win IND vs AUS 5th Test in Sydney with enormous pressure on their back. Australia handed the visitors a 184-run thrashing in Melbourne to take a 2-1 lead in the series and therefore gain an upper hand. India are expected to make some bold calls, which may include dropping key players including captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant for the do-or-die clash. Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel are expected to return. In the bowling front, Akash Deep has reportedly hurt his back while training, which means Prasidh Krishna will finally get a game after a year.
