What is Boxing Day Test?
The inaugural Boxing Day Test took place during the 1950–51 Ashes series in Australia, beginning on December 22 with a rest day on the 25th. Since then, the Boxing Day Test has become a hallmark of cricket and the Australian summer.
The current format of the Boxing Day Test, running from December 26 to December 30, became established in 1980. Over the past 43 years, most of these Tests have been held in Australia, particularly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
