Steve Smith provided exceptional support with a gritty century of his own, steering Australia from 75/3 to 326/4 alongside Travis Head. For India, the lone standout performer was pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed five of the seven wickets. Bumrah dismissed openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in the first session and later struck with the second new ball to remove Smith, Head, and Mitchell Marsh.
