It was Australia that dominated the Indians on Day 1 of the IND vs AUS Pink Ball Test in Adelaide. Set to bat first, the Indians could only manage to score 180 runs with Mitchell Starc bagging a stunning fifer. In reply, Australia ended the day with a score of 86/1 and currently trails India by 94 runs.
Mitchell Starc wreaks havoc
The Australian speedster was in a class of his own. He began early dispatching Yashasvi Jaiswal for a golden duck. The veteran pacer scalped a total of six wickets as KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Ravi Ashwin all fell victim to the sheer brilliance of Mitchell Starc.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had a poor outing as both the ace batters were dismissed cheaply after scoring 3 and 7 respectively. Down the order, Nitish Reddy studied the ship but he too was eventually sent packing after scoring 42 runs. In the end, the hosts brought an end to proceedings as India were bowled out for 180.
Australian batters remain resilient
The Indian bowling order could pack a proper punch at the hosts. Bumrah was the only bowler who could get a breakthrough as he sent Usman Khawaja packing after scoring 13 runs. Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne remain unbeaten on the crease after managing 38 and 20 respectively.
In order to make a comeback, the India Cricket Team needs a massive turnaround on Day 2 in Adelaide. The task is simple. The bowlers need to make the ball shine and pick wickets as early as possible. If India can restrict the Australians to a modest score, then they would need to rally and score a huge total in their second innings for Australia to chase.
