‘IND vs AFG T20Is not a selection series for T20 World Cup’, reckons Parthiv Patel

Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel has claimed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in T20 World Cup squad, irrespective of their performance in IND vs AFG T20Is.

Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel reckons that Team India’s veteran duo Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be picked for T20 World Cup irrespective of their form in the ongoing IND vs AFG T20I series.

Talking on JioCinema, the former wicketkeeper-batter claimed that selectors going back to Rohit and Virat for Afghanistan T20Is suggests that the duo will be in the T20 World Cup squad.

“Once you have picked them [Rohit & Virat] for the series, it means they are going for the World Cup”, Parthiv said.

When asked about Rohit Sharma’s poor form in the ongoing series, where the Indian skipper secured two ducks, Parthiv said that the series is not a selection series for World Cup.

“I don’t see this series as a selection series for the World Cup. I don’t think any player performing or not will impact their chances of World Cup selection, specially when you are talking about Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli”, Parthiv said.

“For Rohit Sharma personally, he would like to score runs. He likes to set the tone and if he gets in, he would like to make it a big one”, the former wicketkeeper added.
