Ravichandran Ashwin made a brilliant comeback to the Indian team on Wednesday after four years with a fine spell of bowling against Afghanistan. Ashwin picked up two for 14 in his four overs, breaking any possible hope Afghanistan had of pulling off the chase. The off-spinner foxed Gulbadin Naib in his very first over trapping him front to send him back to the pavilion for 18. He then dismissed a dangerous-looking Najibullah Zadran, cleaning him up as he attempted a reverse sweep. Ashwin did not concede a single boundary in his four overs, in what was a stunning comeback for the Delhi Capitals star.

Virat Kohli lavished praise on Ravi Ashwin’s performance after the game as the Indian spinner fine comeback to the side. The Indian captain said, “The return of Ash is the biggest positive. We saw him doing well in the IPL and when he does this, we get control in the middle overs. That’s what I’m most pleased about today.”
Rohit Sharma, India’s vice-captain and player of the match, also heaped praise on Ashwin and his ability to change the game in the middle overs. The Hit-Man said, “Ravi Ashwin is a quality bowler, taken so many wickets for India, it was a challenge for him, coming after 4 long years but he has been doing well in IPL – he take wickets in middle overs and more importantly he understands himself.”
