Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul smashed half-centuries while Mohammed Shami bagged three wickets as India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs to keep their semifinals hopes alive. Sent to bat, India set 211 target with Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant playing quickfire knocks. Afghanistan in response could only score 144/7. The win meant, India’s net run rate finally moved to positive (+0.073) and Virat Kohli & Co moved to 4th place in Group 2 with 2 points from 3 matches.
