The India Cricket Team is set to play their final 3 T20I matches before the mega 2024 T20 World Cup. Recently, Team India played a 3-match T20I series against South Africa which ended 1-1 after the first game got washed off. While the Indians welcome the Pathans at home, it remains to be seen as to how India approaches the series.
As per India’s schedule goes for the next months, India won’t play any more T20I matches sans the Afghanistan series. India will face England for a 5-match Test series before the players head into the IPL.
IND vs AFG T20I series
While the India vs Afghanistan series is important but in hindsight, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is of greater importance. The Men in Blue is set to announce their squad for the IND vs AFG series soon, but it won’t be India’s full strength squad. Hardik Pandya is injured and so is Suryakumar Yadav.
Though India is playing the 3 match series, which will be the last T20Is before the World Cup, the team and the board is quite relaxed.
Hardik is recovering from his ankle injured sustained during the ODI World Cup. SKY is recovering from his ankle twist which he sustained in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I. With Rohit Sharma likely to make a comeback and lead the side, the players will be keen to focus in the IPL.
In the grand scheme of things, the IPL is of greater importance to the T20 World Cup, compared to IND vs AFG series. On the other hand, team India ready to break ICC jinx will go all guns blazing in the T20 World Cup.
