The India U19 team on Friday secured their place in the semi-final of the U19 World Cup for the 11th time when they beat the Nepal U19 by 132 runs in the IND U19 vs NEP U19 super six encounter. The Uday Saharan-led side was utterly dominant against underdogs Nepal as India maintained their immaculate form in the U19 World Cup. India decided to bat after winning the toss and put up a score of 297 runs. Nepal faltered in the chase, getting to 165/9.
India did not have a bright start to game after electing to bat first. India lost their openers early and was staring down the barrel at one point of time with 62/3. However, Indian captain Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas consolidated India’s innings and took the game slowly out of Nepal’s reach. Both batters went on to score centuries with Saharan scoring 100 of 107 balls while Dhas got out at 116 of 101 balls as the duo stitched a partnership of 213 runs. India finished at 297 runs, giving their bowlers plenty of room to restrict Nepal.
Nepal looked shaky in their run chase. None of the batters were able to put themselves in for a big score. The Indian bowlers bowled maintained their line and length, not giving the Nepal batters anything to work with. In the end, Nepal could only reach a paltry 165/9 runs in 50 overs. No Nepal batter could go past 50 runs. Left-arm orthodox Saumy Kumar Pandey was the pick of the bowlers. He picked up 4 wickets to ensure India went on to the semis without any hassle.
