What makes Praveen Mysterious?  Jayawickrama has produced some good performances in his three-match career. The highlight so far was his match-winning 11-wicket haul against Bangladesh on debut, in Pallekele, last year.
What deliveries Praveen Jayawickrama bowls?
Jayawickrama is a different spinner from Embuldeniya. He is very quick through the air.
Instead of traditional spinners, he bowls more wicket-to-wicket, and has a better straighter delivery. Expect him to relentlessly attack the stumps.
If he gets among the wickets, it’ll probably be lbw and bowled dismissals. After three Tests, he averages 18.22.

In the 1st test, the visitors played only one specialist spinner in Lasith Embuldeniya. The 25-year-old bowled a lot of overs and lacked support from the other end.

Jayawickrama’s inclusion in the pink-ball Test will give options to skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, who will be desperate to make a comeback in the second Test.

IND SL Bengaluru Test: Why Sri Lanka is likely to include Parveen Jayawickrama in Playing XI?

  • The pitch at Bengaluru historically aids spinners more than pacers
  • India played two spinners in Mohali Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both picked a lot of wickets
  • Dushmanth Chammera is suffering from ankle pain and is likely to not play the second Test
  • Parveen Jayawickrama is in good form in Test matches. He has played three games
  • He has picked up 18 wickets in those matches. Indian batters have not seen much

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will be hoping to make a comeback in the second Test match in Bengaluru. The team suffered embarrassing innings and 188-run loss and lost the match inside three days. Lankan batters cut a sorry figure in both innings. The visitors would be hoping to put up a much-improved performance in the second pink-ball Test.
