IND Playing XI vs NZ: 3 reasons why Ishan Kishan can be a better choice for Virat Kohli & Co
- Ishan Kishan is in red-hot form and can be a better pick for Virat Kohli
Left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan is in smashing form. He slammed unbeaten 70 off just 56 against England in the warmup match. He also slammed a couple of blistering knocks (84 and unbeaten 50) for Mumbai Indians towards the backend of IPL 2021. Kohli & Co can use him to ensure India puts a decent amount of runs on the scorecard.
On the other hand, SuryaKumar Yadav failed big time against Pakistan in the opening match. He has been in and out of form since the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He has already registered 5 single-digit scores in the last 10 matches. Thus, left-handed could prove to be the right option for Men in Blue.
- Ishan Kishan can play the role of a finisher
- With Hardik Pandya struggling to fill in the shoes of a finisher for Team India, Ishan Kishan could be used as a makeshift finisher by Virat Kohli & Co.
- He has been in tremendous form and could play a crucial role for the Men in Blue in the last few overs.
- The youngster can be alike to like replacement for SuryaKumar Yadav or Hardik Pandya (if he doesn’t bowl).
- He had earlier finished a match by scoring an unbeaten 20 against Sri Lanka during a T20I in July.
- The flexible Kishan has also played at No.3 for India with fifty on debut. Thus, he is expected to ace another challenge in the upcoming battle against the Kiwis.
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya managed just 11 runs in the high-octane clash against Pakistan. He had a forgetful IPL 2021 with the bat coupled with a lack of bowling options.
Speaking about Ishan Kishan, Sunil Gavaskar said: “If Hardik Pandya is not bowling – due to that shoulder injury he sustained in the match against Pakistan – Ishan Kishan has been in brilliant form so I will surely consider him ahead of Pandya.”
- A sharp, flambouyant fielder
Ishan Kishan can not only bat but also possess the ability to contribute in the field. He can change the game with his on-field presence with his athleticism. He has so far taken 19 catches in the Indian Premier League and is an asset on the field along with wicket-keeping talent.
