Earlier, the President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association Mohammad Azharuddin had announced that tickets for the first match will be sold online only. The former Indian skipper took a cue from the ticketing fiasco at the Gymkhana grounds last year in September. To note, Hyderabad was hosting an ODI game between India and Australia. While trying to buy tickets for the match, several spectators got injured.
It was reported that around 20 cricket fans were injured and a couple fainted. Seven people were allegedly admitted to a hospital. It has been alleged that tickets offline were sold in black which led to the stampede-like situation.
Meanwhile, India are chasing a big milestone in the upcoming ODI series against the Kiwis. The Men in Blue might top the ODI rankings if they defeat the Blackcaps by 3-0 in the upcoming fixture.
- India are currently 4th on the ODI rankings behind NZ, England, and Australia with 109 ranking points.
