IND beat ENG at Lord’s: Sam Curran, Rory Burns, Dom Sibley registers most shameful record
IND beat ENG at Lord’s – England Cricket Shameful Record: Rory Burns and Dom Sibley became the first English opening pair to score ducks in the same innings after 531 Tests at home clinching an unwanted record as questions continue to be raised on their place in the side. The duo have struggled to give England a good start at the top of the order, and an astonishing 37% of their partnerships have not reached the third over of the innings.
Burns scored a fighting 49 in the first innings but was out for a four-ball duck in the second, giving a simple catch to Mohammed Siraj in the very first over of the innings. Sibley soon followed with his four-ball zero, after he was on the end of some brilliant bowling by Mohammed Shami.

IND beat ENG at Lord’s – Sam Curran’s King Pair: Meanwhile, Sam Curran also joined in their nought train, becoming just the fourth England player to be dismissed on a king pair.
Curran was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Ishant Sharma in the first innings and the young Englishman had to make a long walk back to the pavilion in the second innings as well after he edged a Mohammed Siraj delivery straight to Rishabh Pant. The other Englishmen to register a king pair are William Attewell in 1892, Ernie Hayes in 1906 and Jimmy Anderson in 2016.
IND beat ENG at Lord’s: England were eventually bowled out for 120 was their lowest at home against India since 1986, when they were bundled out for 102 at Headingley. It marked the first time since 2001 when England had scored more than 391 in their first innings and yet lost the game. It was also a historic achievement for India, who became the second team to have declared the third innings of a Test after lunch on the final day and won. The first instance of it came way back in 1984 when New Zealand saw the back of Sri Lanka.
While England’s batters except Joe Root are going through a torrid run, the same couldn’t be said of Jasprit Bumrah who has shown commendable grit with the bat in the IND vs ENG series so far. Bumrah had reached double figures in one of his 30 Test innings before the England series began but managed to score two career bests, a 28 in Trent Bridge, followed by his 34 not out at Lord’s on Monday.
