Shakib Al Hasan, who only bowled 12 overs in the first innings, was participating in 1st Test despite suffering from rib and shoulder problems during the ODI series after being bothered by Umran Malik in the second match.

The star all-rounder, according to Cricbuzz, was hesitant to participate in 1st Test. And finally decided to do so at the very last minute, presumably due to BCB president Nazmul Hasan’s pressure after they spoke on the sidelines of the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

The Bangla Test skipper reportedly told the team management that he would only be willing to bat in the first Test. The team combination was significantly impacted by the team management’s choice to play Shakib despite his ailment. In order to cover for Shakib’s bowling, they had to incorporate Taijul Islam, which required them to alter the batting order.

Since Taijul had to be accommodated, Mahmudul Hasan was left out of the starting lineup, forcing Nazmul Hasan to open the innings for just the second time in his career. The reorganisation also led to Yasir Ali’s promotion to the post of three, which had previously been primarily held by Nazmul.

As a result, Litton Das was sent at number four for the first time in his Test career by the team management.

Bangladesh’s problems in the first Test were made worse when bowler Ebadot Hossain was unable to bowl in the second innings owing to a side strain. At the same time, India declared after amassing 258/2, with centuries from Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara, giving Bangladesh a target of 513.

Even renowned bowlers like Litton, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, and Yasir attempted a few overs but were unsuccessful.
