IND AUS WTC Final: India to face Australia in the WTC final, Rohit Sharma & Co aim to break ICC Trophy drought
In the World Test Championship cycle, which spans the years 2021 to 2023, India played six Test series between this time and won four series. They lost only against South Africa 2-1 in 2021-22 and drew the five-match Test series in England 2-2. Australia became the first team to secure a place in the WTC by beating India in Indore Test. The Steve Smith-led side tops the WTC list with 68.52 PCT.
With a second consecutive WTC final, India will be aiming to end the ICC Trophy drought. The last time the Asian team won an ICC Cup was in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s leadership. It has been ten years, and India have faced only heartbreaks in ICC events managing to reach semis and finals, but not crossing the hurdle. This time India would be desperate to reverse that trend.
Speaking about the ongoing fourth Test, it ended in a draw. India clinched the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2-1.
