Imran Khan to Rohit Sharma: Oldest captains to win World Cup

The likes of Aaron Finch and Clive Lloyd also feature on the list of oldest captains to win World Cup trophy.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, at 37 years and 60 days old, became the second oldest captain to win an ICC trophy, leading his team to a second T20 World Cup title against South Africa in Barbados.

This victory also made him the oldest captain to secure a T20 World Cup. The only captain older than Rohit to win an ICC tournament final is Imran Khan, who was 39 years and 172 days old when Pakistan triumphed over England in the 1992 ODI World Cup final.

Oldest captain to lift World Cup trophy

The only captain older than Rohit to win an ICC tournament final is Imran Khan, who was 39 years and 172 days old when Pakistan triumphed over England in the 1992 ODI World Cup final. Apart from Imran and Rohit, Aaron Finch (34 years and 362 days) and Clive Lloyd (34 years and 296 days) also feature on the list of oldest captains to win World Cup.

Following this historic win, Rohit Sharma and veteran batter Virat Kohli also announced their retirement from T20 Internationals. The triumph marks India’s second T20 World Cup title, their first being in 2007 when they defeated Pakistan in the final of the inaugural tournament.
