Gujarat Titans had an easy day on the field on Sunday when they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably by 5 wickets. SRH, who were flying high, proved no match for GT’s all-round performance. GT’s impact players shone in the match. Mohit Sharma picked up 3 wickets to set the tone for the team, while Sai Sudharsan played an innings of 45 runs to help GT move closer to the target. The duo engaged in a chat after the match, sharing their plan and their thought process.
Mohit Sharma focused on the team’s performance rather than his individual spell. Mohit gave away just 25 runs and took 3 wickets to restrict SRH to 162. However, he said it was a team effort, rather than individual brilliance.
“Feeling happy. But it is not about the individual performances, it is about contributing to the team. We gave away runs but then Rashid, Noor, Azmat covered it up. They gave me a platform and I knew what to do. It was an proper team contribution overall and not an individual one,” Mohit said.
Sai Sudharsan, who came is as an impact substitute, revealed that his plan was to take the game as deep as possible.
“When I went in to bat, the run rate was going really well. So my plan was to maintain the run rate for a while and take the game deep. I looked to play risk-free shots. This wasn’t a wicket where you go after every bowler every over. So we had to pick the right bowler,” Sudharsan said.
Mohit Sharma asked Sudharsan, “Did you ever feel that your teammates would be a bit worried about your slow innings?“
Sudharsan answered, “Yes definitely. But I feel sometimes but it’s about a matter of one or two boundaries here and there. I backed myself. I feel that is very important when you chase.“
