Imad Wasim urged to come back from retirement for T20 WC by Shadab Khan, all-rounder leaves option open

Imad Wasim revealed he had a chat with Shaheen Afridi after his retirement and claimed that he will be available if his country needs him

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has heaped praises on teammate Imad Wasim, expressing optimism that the seasoned all-rounder will think about returning from retirement in international cricket.

Imad Wasim has been instrumental for Islamabad United in the team’s journey to the third PSL trophy. The left-handed all-rounder scored an unbeaten 59 off 40 deliveries against Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator 2 before picking up a 5-wicket haul in the final of the tournament.

At this point, Imad is still retired from international cricket; the gifted all-rounder decided to end his career at the highest level in November of last year. However, performances like that would be highly sought for Pakistan during the T20 World Cup in June.

In fact, when Imad made the decision, I had also told him that I didn’t want him to leave. Because Pakistan needs players like him,” said Khan.

God willing, if there is a discussion with him, hopefully, he will come back because the World Cup is approaching and the way he is performing and his experience in CPL, Pakistan definitely needs him,” he added.

Imad, on his part, left the possibility of a comeback into the national team open.

I made a name for myself while playing for Pakistan and if my country needs me, I will be available. If not, I have no issues with that,” Imad said.

Shaheen called me after I retired but I told him that we will talk after PSL,” he added
