The International League T20 (ILT20) just got way more exciting with the introduction of Super-Sub and Wildcard for the upcoming season 2. The ILT20 season 2 will begin on Friday, January 19. The tournament will commence with a match between the defending champions Gulf Giants, and Sharjah Warriors, at the historic Sharjah cricket stadium.
These two new additions are expected to further excite fans. Six tournament franchises will have to gear up their minds and strategize for their final tournament rosters as well as their playing 11s.

So, what are the two new features and how will they be used throughout the season? Here’s everything you need to know on the Super-Sub and Wildcard features for UAE’s biggest tournament.
Super-Sub
After the end of the first over, each team will have the option to replace one player at any point in the match. If the team so desires, a Super-Sub may be inserted as soon as the second innings begins. A player who is once replaced cannot play in the remainder of the match.
The Super-Sub will be named by the Head Coach and introduced by the 4th umpire. The umpire on the field will give the scorers a sign (wrists over the head). This is similar to the impact player that was introduced in IPL.
Wildcard
Each franchise has the option of adding up to two players to its roster, outside of the original 22-man limit. It is an option, not a requirement. If a franchise has already reached its maximum salary spend ($2.5 million), it will be allowed to spend up to 10% of its salary cap (currently $250.000) on Wildcard Players.
In case if there’s still money left to teams within the initial $2,500,000 salary spend, teams will be free to spend that amount. If needed, the teams can also spend an additional $250,000 while remaining within the Wildcard Player Spend.
